In which I get confused about the meaning of February 10, 2011

I’m in Riyadh. It is February 10, 2011 at about 10:45 a.m. I have a mid-afternoon flight out to Dubai to catch my February 10, 2011 flight to Los Angeles that departs departed at 1:10 a.m.

You can see the inherent problem. :-0

Memo to self #1: 1:10 a.m. means really, really early in the morning of the day of February 10, 2011.

Memo to self #2: booking flights online, late at night? Might be error-prone.

Memo to everyone else: I will be arriving at LAX at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, instead of mid-day on Thursday as originally planned. Mary, I will catch a cab home. Or if I have the fortitude, I’ll try the “bus to the Green Line to Union Station to the Gold Line to home” rapid transit extravaganza.

And especially an apology to the IRS CI Special Agents with whom I had an 8:00 a.m. conference call scheduled for Friday morning, February 11, 2011 — it is unlikely that I’m going to get myself through Immigration and Customs (in that order) in 15 minutes.

The good news? I’m on the Emirates nonstop from Dubai to Los Angeles. w00t. Sixteen hour flight FTW.
