Debra will be speaking at the 2026 International Tax Conference hosted by Washington Society of CPAs. Her session will be "Planning to Minimize Exit Tax".

During her presentation, you will learn how to help clients renounce US citizenship or terminate their green cards while minimizing exposure to IRC §877A exit tax. The focus will be on avoiding expatriation, avoiding covered expatriate status, or reducing/eliminating exit tax in situations where covered expatriate status cannot be avoided. There is also a section on common problem areas and some ways to approach those issues. You’ll leave this session understanding key thresholds, timing considerations, and practical approaches to help clients exit the US cleanly.
